As far as I'm concerned there is no movie. Soo this video is pointless. He rules with a STONE fist. Nice one dude. I can feel its acceptance going right down into my tummy! LOL.
The things I hate in the movie are: everything The things I like in the movie: Nothin. Given the volumes of story in each of the three books, I was expecting nothing less than two and one half hours for Book One. I find it hard to believe the writers couldn't get more than 100 minutes of material from 7 hours of TV show, so I have to assume Paramount and Nick didn't want to spend the money to make this a true epic ala Lord Of The Rings. The concept certainly can support that scale, and the series was very popular, so I'm not sure why they thought they had to turn this into a short "here today, gone tomorrow" niche movie. Odd that they chose to mispronounce names, and change names (gran-gran) for no reason. Also odd is including Momo, but not Suki, even if they needed to keep Sokka's relationships to one. Leaving Suki out was made more odd given the fact that they never fully developed the relationship between Sokka and Yue, even though they made her single by eliminating her arranged marriage story. Oh, and where was Ko, The Face Stealer? I was SO wanting to see him make an appearance. Not sure why you want to kill the fan base that inspired the movie to be made in the first place, but hopefully Books 2 and 3 will be better.
HOW DID I NOT KNOW THAT AN AVATAR MINI SERIES EXIST. My theory is that it's actually a live action adaptation of the Ember Island play. That's why all the characters seem pretty irredeemable and not true to the characters they're based on. It's Fire Nation propaganda. The bending seems so comical because the actors are nonbenders. I remember getting so excited that this movie was coming out when I was little and thinking it was so cool but then I watch it now and Im so disappointed.

In the show: Hey lets lock the earthbenders in a massive metal concentration camp ship where they cant use their powers because earthbenders cant bend fire nation metals. The movie: Lets Throw the earthbenders into a quarry surrounded by rocks. Perfect plan. If Aang had decided to redirect that lightning at Ozai. this fight would have been MUCH shorter. They should take your advice and try again🤷 or at least get a better director to actually take the characters and the influence that they truly had on each other as well as the audience as a whole and bring it to life.
Someone played the movie on a plane once and people still walked out. Its really interesting to see a critique of this from someone who never watched the show. This perfectly sums up everything i hate about the movie and then some as a longtime fan of the show. Avatar is the only kids show i know of that ages like a fine wine - the older you are the more youre able to appreciate it. The movie threw out everything there is to like about avatar and unironically threw together a pathetic shitty ms paint version of everything. Like they just wanted the bending choreography for the kiddies and realized they needed something to hold it all together and stripped the show down to the bare minimum of what could be considered plot if you squint really hard. And then they fucked up the coreography at LEAST as badly anyway so what the fuck was the point? Ive seen some really good breakdowns on what the movie fucked up that the show did perfectly but the simplest way to summarize it is just looking at what a borderline insult to zukos character the movie version is - a boy who was abused and disowned by his father just for “disrespecting” him by showing the slightest shred of human decency in front of him, and even that wasnt enough punishment apparently.
I can imagine Netflix watching this and taking notes intensively.

When I was little I thought this movie was amazing. I didn't have access to this show at the time. After I watched it, even the few bits I did remember were so bad I almost cried.
The trailer was better then the movie tbh.
Wow, he really opened my eyes. I saw the movie first many years ago when I was like 8 or 9 and I thought it was great. Now that Ive seen the ENTIRE series (and loved it) I see that movie as a true disclaimer of what it should have been. He opens my eyes to so many things I wouldnt have noticed before.
